He wasn't too impressed with me at first. He didn't like me crawling all over him and biting his ears. That was okay with me; I was happy to have someone like me around. I was only allowed to play with him a couple times a day because I would also explore the hospital and the people didn't like that very much. I could fit into tight corners when I was little.
Cashmere warmed up to me after a while and would start playing with me. He taught me some things, like how to walk around the people's feet when they were busy and how to beg for food. He was an old cat and knew many things.
One day he didn't come out of his room in the morning. I looked for him around the hospital but couldn't find him. The people seemed a little sad. I heard one of them say that Cashmere had passed away. I didn't know what that meant then but I think I do now. He went to a better place, a place where there are cat beds everywhere and lots of catnip and mice. A place where cats don't go hungry and where they're all loved. I think it's called cat heaven.
I miss Cashmere. He was a good big brother and I love him very much. Hopefully one day I will see him again and we'll play together and eat side by side. Until then, I have to count myself lucky that I am in a good place and that I have a good memory of a wonderful friend.
